I feel so blessed to have had the inspiration and perseverance for this three-year Epiphany album project. It is such a beautiful thing to be able to write and record pieces of my life and have gifted musicians interpret them. Special thanks to Mark Unthank, who started the ball rolling by helping me sketch out these songs, engineering and producing a rhythm section that helped lead the back-up vocals and horn arrangers/players to their marvelous embellishments. To top it off, now I know life really is evolving when I return to Dubway Studios and reunite with Al Houghton, the owner and his crew who helped with the final mixes and Master. My band did their very first recordings with Al back in 1984, and Dubway is still in business! This says a lot for the quality of their work. Thank you Al Houghton, Mike Naz, and Mike Judeh for executing brilliant sound details like, "Gots to let it go!" in Give It To God. I know from experience that it is all those details put together and arranged in such a brilliant way, that makes art meaningful. Now, a special thanks to all the players: Deborah Berg and Sherryl Marshall, as singers you are marvelous; Dionne McClain-Freeney jumps on those 88s!; Geoffrey Wright, funky bass; Sean Dixon, percussion; Michal "ShynDIGG" Henney, acoustic guitar; smokin' horns, Lily White, alto sax; Jenny Hill, tenor sax; Pam Fleming, trumpet and flugel horn. Last, but not least: I want to give the drummer some! Bernice "Boom Boom" Brooks makes Wanda and The Way It Is groove! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Love,
